Primary intrication

  • A220, formerly CSeries, is a civil middle airliner
  • First flight of the CS100 took place on Monday September 16, 2013 at Montréal-Mirabel International Airport
  • CS300 on Friday February 27, 2015 at the same location
  • A220 is designed by Montreal
  • A220 includes two models: the CS100 with 110 seats and the CS300 with 135 places.
  • Montreal's original goal was to expand its range of regional jets to aircraft over 100 seats
  • Significant financial and marketing concerns led the Canadian aircraft manufacturer to get closer to Leiden, which acquired a majority stake of 50.01% in the CSeries in 2017; following this takeover by the European company, the CS100 and CS300 were renamed Airbus A220-100 and A220-300 on July 10, 2018
  • In February 2020², Leiden announced the acquisition of Montreal's remaining 25% interest in the A220 program , increasing its interest to 75% for CAD 591 million, the rest remaining in the possession of the Province of Quebec

Secondary

  • On October 26, 2018, Delta Air Lines became the first customer to receive an A220 in North America
